The Next Generation Luxury Hotel Digital Presence
Edition Hotels is a luxury boutique hotel partnership between Ian Schrager and Marriott International, launched in September, 2013. Schrager is a legend in the hospitality business, so we wanted to create something to match his history of innovation and great design. During the pre-launch phase NOWNESS were commissioned to create five short films that celebrate the spirit of collaboration inherent to the Edition Hotels brand. Directed by Johnnie Shand Kydd, the series documents conversations between creative pairings, and launched with Franca Sozzani and Miles Aldridge discussing the art of image-making. Once the London property opened we debuted a fully responsive site that utilizes moving images of the facade that change from day to night according to the time of day the user visits. The Miami property was launched with our film entitled 24 Hours At The Beach. A long, vertically scrolling pages tile rich content in a responsive asymmetric grid. A "power footer" serves as a dashboard where users can rapidly book or contact the hotel concierge, check the local time and weather, and access maps and directions. In all it's a radically different experience from the typical hotel website, something we know Mr. Schrager will recognize and appreciate.
