Lead WordPress Developer – NYC or Remote

OVERVIEW –

King and Partners – create, transform and grow exceptional brands.

The Lead WordPress Developer will be responsible for implementing and upholding best practices across all design projects across the agency while also leading more junior developers on the tech team.

General responsibilities for a Lead WordPress Developer will include overseeing the work of team members and potentially external developers, weighing in on any project blockers, partnering with account managers to resolve issues and providing guidance wherever needed, assisting with deployments and researching and exploring new integrations, tools and code reviews.

This person will work alongside other Lead developers and ultimately report to King and Partners’ technical leadership team, which includes the Chief Technology Officer, Technical Director and Director of Technical Operations.

 

INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES (50%) – 

Serve as the lead developer on appointed projects and delegate tasks as needed. 

TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES (50%) – 

Conduct weekly check-ins with designated team members and oversee code as needed.

Provide general guidance on best practices, deployment processes, technical strategy and estimating scope.

Lead research and discovery on preferred 3rd party applications with approval from leadership.

Determine the tech stack or framework during early stages of development for new projects.

Ensure consistency, enforce processes and uphold quality across all project engagements.

Act as a consultant to account managers, tech project managers, and new business teams; advise on technical feasibility around requirements and providing creative technical solutions or workarounds to business problems, i.e. timeline estimates and resourcing decisions – delegating to proper individuals as needed.

Join key client calls – i.e. kickoff calls, handoff calls, etc. – or otherwise appoint a project lead to oversee high-level details and implementation.

Manage and update the Knowledge Base wikis and project templates.

Assist in onboarding new team members.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED – 

5+ years of experience developing enterprise-level web applications.

Expertise with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Templating Languages (i.e. Liquid, Twig, etc).

Deep understanding of HTML5 (new semantics and JavaScript APIs, ES6, CSS3, WebGL, etc).

Experience managing or mentoring junior developers or other members of an engineering team.

Excellent communication skills.

Demonstrated success in troubleshooting with and assisting developers when they are blocked in development.

Experience in client-facing role or discussing requirements with new business teams and clients about new projects.

Expertise with Git/Version Control.

Strong understanding of front-end performance optimization techniques.

Demonstrated ability to transform designs (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Zeplin, Invision) into pixel perfect code.

Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and responsive design.

Strong understanding of browser performance optimization.

Understanding of SEO best practices.

Experience developing in Headless architectures (particularly Vue/Nuxt).

COMPENSATION – 

The compensation range for this position is between $120,000 – $150,000. The salary will commensurate with the candidate’s overall work experience.
